Great Wall will stop cooperation with South Korea's Hyundai for 7-speed dual clutch

The Haval brand is the main sales force of Great Wall Motors, and most of its models match automatic transmissions from South Korea's Hyundai Paotai and GETRAG. Some media have learned from the Great Wall Motor official that the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission independently developed and produced by Great Wall Motors is already on the WEY VV7 model, and will cover the full range of H2 models to VV7 and H7 models in the future. Great Wall Motor will cease cooperation with South Korea's Hyundai Sendai Transmission.

In the early years, Chinese brand car manufacturers did not have the capacity to produce automatic transmissions, and they could only seek foreign suppliers for transmissions. Great Wall Motors is no exception. The Hover H6 was powered by a modern Powertech 6AT gearbox, and the current H6 and H6 Coupe used a GETRAG 7DCT gearbox. Now the Great Wall has independently researched and developed 7DCT gearboxes that have already been mass-produced, and have taken the lead in the WEY VV7 models.

Zheng Lihua, deputy dean of the Great Wall Automotive Transmission Research Institute and director of the project, said that in addition to achieving the best product quality, the 7DCT450 also has a design suitable for all platforms of the vehicle, meeting the needs of high-volume production, in the spare parts, software and calibration, production equipment With an excellent supplier system, it has a lot of self-control capabilities.

At present, the 7DCT450 transmission has a production capacity of 500,000 units/year, which does not meet the demand of Great Wall Motor's annual sales of more than one million vehicles. Some models will match the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox from GETRAK. By 2018, Great Wall Motors will shift gears. After the second phase of the box factory is put into production, the production capacity will increase to 1 million units/year, and this 7-speed dual clutch transmission will be gradually introduced from H2S to H6, H7 and WEY series.
