On December 6, Continental Automotive (Changchun) Co., Ltd. officially started production at its second plant in Changchun. This is the 19th factory of German Continental Group in China and the largest production base in Asia.
The new plant is located in Changchun Jingyue Development Zone, with a total investment of 300 million yuan and a total construction area of ​​100,000 square meters, including production areas, warehouses, and R&D centers. The new plant will mainly produce passive safety and sensors, chassis components, body and safety related products.
Changchun is an important automobile production base in China. Currently, it is implementing a 3 million vehicle production capacity plan. This provides a huge market support space for auto parts and components companies, and it also attracts auto parts companies in various countries to accelerate their deployment in the local area.
“It was Changchun’s strong demand for auto parts that allowed the Continental Group to set up a second factory in Changchun,†said Jiang Kongke, president of Continental China. This also shows that the Continental Group is confident in China’s future auto market.
According to reports, the Continental Group is one of the top five auto parts suppliers in the world, and the new plant in Changchun is the largest one outside of Germany. The Asian market represented by China has become the focus of the group's future development. By 2017, 35% of the global output of the Continental Group will be realized in Asia, and 54% of Asian production will come from Changchun.

According to reports, the new plant also has R&D capabilities and will develop new products for the Chinese market in the future.
