The database shows that in the past decades, gasification capacity around the world has been continuously increasing. At present, there are 412 gasification plants operating in 144 gasification plants, and the syngas output capacity is 70817 MWth. The database also shows that 11 gasification plants (17 gasifiers) are currently in the construction phase, and another 37 gasification plants (76 gasifiers) are in the planning stage and will be successively implemented from 2011 to 2016. Put into use. Most of these gasification plants (40/48) will use coal as raw material. Other planned production capacity during 2011~2016 was 51288 MWth, an increase of over 72%. If this growth can be achieved, the global production capacity of 192 gasification plants (505 gasifiers) will reach 112,106 MWth by 2016.
At present, the industrial syngas production capacity has increased by 26% since 2007 and has increased by 50% since 2004. There are seven gasification plants in China under construction (six are using coal to produce chemicals and fertilizers, and one is generating electricity from coal). In addition, there are 10 gasification plants (8 of which are coal production chemicals and chemical fertilizers, and 2 of which are coal-fired power generation) that are under planning and are expected to be operational by 2016.
There are currently two integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plants in the United States under construction. There are still 16 projects under planning and are expected to run from 2010 to 2016. Together, the 18 gasification plants will account for 47% of the U.S. capacity increase, 23% of the gaseous fuel capacity increase, 18% of the liquid fuel capacity increase, and 12% of the chemical capacity increase. There are 13 other gasification plants in the world under construction or planning. Eleven use coal and the other two use biomass/waste.
