Parts supplier SKF recently announced that it has signed a new supply contract with Volvo Cars to provide wheel bearing units for the new cars it produces.
The chairman of SKF Automotive, Tryggve Sthen, said: "Volvo's requirements are extremely challenging. Through close cooperation, we have met our customers' goal of reducing vehicle weight with their own technical knowledge and expertise."
In order to comply with Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture strategy, SKF specifically developed HBU3 hub bearing units based on the company's specifications. Volvo's scalable product architecture strategy is aimed at not affecting vehicle performance and comfort. At the same time, significantly reduce the weight of the body.
SKF said that this supply contract is one of the most important orders it has received from automotive customers, but the company has not announced the amount of this supply contract.
