China's million-kilowatt nuclear power unit core design improvement - advanced fuel management (1/4 refueling) fuel assembly localization work has recently made a major breakthrough. Under the joint efforts of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operation Management Co., Ltd. and China Nuclear Construction China Nuclear Fuel Components Co., Ltd., the first batch of full-scale M5AFA3G fuel assembly localization work was a complete success and was delivered in the near future.
The use of the full M5AFA3G nuclear fuel assembly is the first quarter of the CGN Nuclear Power Plant's Lingao Nuclear Power Plant (a 1/3 refueling, which is to replace one third of the entire reactor fuel assembly every year to maintain the full power of the reactor). Important, it can greatly improve the fuel consumption and corrosion resistance of fuel, reduce the growth of irradiation creep and irradiation components, improve the average fuel consumption of components, and greatly improve the economics of fuel assemblies. This refueling method is currently at the international advanced level. According to estimates, the two units of the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant will save an average of 24 sets of fuel assemblies per year after implementing 1/4 refueling, saving fuel costs by about 20 million US dollars per year.
