The data shows that in January 2011, the sales volume of passenger cars imported from Russia was 47,400, and the sales volume in February was 59,500. South Korean and Japanese cars are the main models of the Russian import car market. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai Kia, and UZ-Daewoo are the majority of imported cars.

It is understood that 95% of imported cars in Russia were new cars at the beginning of this year, and the Russian government has formulated higher tariffs to restrict the import of used cars.

It is reported that Maxim Medvedev, director of the Trade Negotiations Department of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, announced that after Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization, Russia will reduce the import duty on new cars from 30% to 25%.
