China Drying Network News Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics published by the Natural Rubber Producing Countries Association (ANRPC) show that in August 2012 ANRPC member countries’ natural rubber production increased by 4.1% year-on-year; natural rubber production is expected to increase by 4% in September , increased to 986,000 tons; but in October natural rubber production will decline 8.3%, to 915,000 tons. However, the annual production in 2012 will still increase by 4.7% from 2011, reaching 1,083,300 tons.
ANRPC stated that if the plans announced by the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) members (Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia) on August 17 are effective, natural rubber production and exports will decline even more. In the "Agreed Export Tonnage Plan", the organization decided to cut 300,000 tons of export volume and cut 100,000 hectares of mature Hevea rubber in the growing area to boost the natural rubber price.
