Fault detection method for automobile generator not generating electricity

When it is suspected that the generator is faulty, the generator can be initially detected and removed, and the generator is not disassembled for further testing. The tools used for testing can be multimeters (voltage, resistance files), general DC voltmeters, DC ammeters and oscilloscopes, etc. It can also be used to make small test lights by car bulbs, flashlight bulbs, etc., and can also be detected by changing the working state of the car.
1 on the car detection method
When it is suspected that the generator does not generate electricity, it is possible to detect the fault without disassembling the generator and detecting it on the vehicle.
1.1 multimeter voltage file detection
Rotate the multimeter knob to the DC voltage 30V (or use the appropriate DC voltage meter for the appropriate gear), connect the red test lead to the generator "armature" connector, the black test lead to the outer casing, and let the engine run at medium speed or above, 12V electrical system. The voltage standard value should be around 14V, and the voltage standard value of the 24V electrical system should be around 28V. If the measured voltage is the battery voltage, it means that the generator does not generate electricity.
1.2 External ammeter detection
When there is no ammeter on the dashboard of the car, an external DC ammeter can be used for detection. First remove the generator "armature" connecting post conductor, then connect the positive pole of the DC current meter with the measuring range of about 20A to the "armature" of the generator, and connect the negative conductor to the above-mentioned joint. When the engine is running above the medium speed (do not use other electrical equipment), the ammeter has a 3A~5A charging indication, indicating that the generator is working normally, otherwise the generator will not generate electricity.
1.3 test light (car bulb) method
When there is no multimeter and DC meter, you can use the car bulb to do a test light to detect. Solder the appropriate length of wire at both ends of the bulb and attach the squid clip to both ends. Before the test, remove the wire of the "armature" of the generator, and then clamp one end of the test lamp to the "armature" of the generator, and the other end is grounded. When the engine is running at medium speed, the brightness of the test light is explained. The generator works normally, otherwise the generator will not generate electricity.
1.4 change the engine speed, observe the headlight brightness method
After starting the engine, turn on the headlights to increase the engine speed from idle speed to medium speed. If the brightness of the headlights increases with the increase of the speed, the generator works normally, otherwise it will not generate electricity.
1.5 Remove the battery ground to see if the engine (gasoline engine) works
This method can be used when there is no microcomputer control electronics in the car. If the engine is controlled above the medium speed, remove the battery ground wire (usually disconnect the control main switch on the battery ground wire). If the engine works normally, the generator will generate electricity, otherwise the generator will be faulty.
2 vehicle does not disintegrate detection and judgment
After removing the generator from the vehicle, it can be checked by the following method to further determine the fault.
2 .1 judged by small light bulb (flashlight bulb)
Connect the two ends of the handle bulb to the wire to make a small test light, which is connected between the generator "armature" and the outer casing. Connect the positive and negative poles of the battery (or the same voltage dry battery) to the two magnetic field terminals "F1" and "F2" of the generator (the alternator connected to the "F" and "grounding" posts ), let the battery energize the generator. Quickly turn the engine belt pulley by hand. The small test light indicates that the generator is working normally, otherwise the generator will not generate electricity.
2.2 multimeter voltage file judgment
Let the battery energize the generator (the wiring method is the same as 2.1), and select the multimeter to be in the DC voltage 3-5V (or the appropriate DC voltage meter), and the black and red test leads are connected to the "grounding" and the generator "armature" respectively. Connect the column, turn the belt pulley by hand, and the pointer of the multimeter (or DC voltmeter) should swing, otherwise the generator will not generate electricity.
