Ammonia collectors and their precautions for use

In addition to an amine having collector collecting capability, but still have a certain foaming power, is mainly used in the flotation of quartz, aluminum silicates (beryl, spodumene, feldspar, mica, etc.), carbonates ( Ling zinc ore, etc.), and soluble salts thereof (potassium salt).

Amine collectors must be prepared by dissolving them in an acid to form an amine salt. This salt is dissociated into an amine cation in an aqueous solution, and its reaction formula is as follows:

RNH2+HCL←→RNH3CI

RNH3CI←→RNH3+ + CI-

RNH3+←→RNH2 + H+

The amine cations in the formula interact with the mineral surface to form a hydrophobic surface.

The concentration of the amine cation is determined by the pH of the solution. In acidic and weakly alkaline solutions, amine cations are dominant. When the pH exceeds 9, the amine is mostly in a molecular state, and the amine is also less trapped in the strong acid slurry.
