Petrochemical motor system has huge potential for energy saving

Information from the 2007 National Petroleum and Chemical Industry Electrical Management (Technical) Exchange Seminar was held from September 18 to 21 in Dalian. At present, the average efficiency of motors in China's petroleum and chemical industries is low, and the potential for energy saving in motor systems is huge.

According to Du Ronglin, executive vice chairman of the China Chemical Industry Machinery and Power Technology Association and director of the Power Professional Committee, during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the National Development and Reform Commission will implement ten key energy-saving projects, such as saving and replacing petroleum and coal-fired industrial boilers (kilns ) Reconstruction, regional cogeneration, residual heat and pressure utilization, energy conservation of motor systems, optimization of energy systems, building energy conservation, green lighting, energy saving of government agencies, energy conservation monitoring and technical service system construction projects, etc. The goal of energy saving is to save 240 million tons of standard coal. The energy saving of the motor system is an energy-saving project closely related to petroleum and chemical companies.

It is understood that the motor is widely used to drive wind turbines, pumps, compressors and other equipment, is a large amount of large terminal power consumption, electricity consumption accounts for about 60% of the country's electricity consumption. However, due to the low efficiency of motor and dragged equipment used by the industrial and mining enterprises in China, the design philosophy is backward, and the safety factor is considered to be too large for the type selection. The phenomenon of “big horse-drawn cars” is serious; the system adjustment method is backward, and there is a lot of system operation. The interception losses caused the average efficiency of various types of motors in our country to be 3 to 5 percentage points lower than in developed countries, and the overall operating efficiency of motor drive systems is 20 percentage points lower than in developed countries. This also shows that China's motor system has great potential for energy conservation. For example, in 2003, the power consumption of fans and water pumps in the domestic petroleum and chemical industries was 127.8 billion kWh. If the energy-saving system of its motor system can be saved, it can save more than 25.6 billion kWh annually.
