At the end of October 2009, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guangzhou Automobile Group") organized and held the "Guangdong Automobile Group's Asian Motor Gasoline Hybrid Prototype Vehicle Acceptance and Batch Demonstration Experts' Argumentation", and the demonstration meeting invited the National Cleanser to be invited. Five senior experts of domestic electric vehicles, including Wang Binggang, leader of the Energy Action Team and head of the 863 Electric Vehicle Major Inspection Team.
The meeting was chaired by Jiang Ping, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Automobile Group and chairperson of GAC Bus. The expert group and the participants heard the project summary report of the project team, reviewed the relevant documents, and answered the on-site defense and inspection of the hybrid prototype vehicle. It was agreed that the GZ6121HEV gas-electric hybrid city bus jointly developed by Guangzhou Automobile Group and Yuchai passed acceptance, and gave the design work done by the prototype in the aspects of optimization of the hybrid system, lightening of the vehicle, and refinement of control strategy. Highly appraised, fully affirmed the remarkable achievements in the energy-saving effect and reliability of the sample car, and also recommended that mass production be carried out as soon as possible to provide products for the demonstration operation in Guangzhou City and the whole country; and the reliability of the products should be further evaluated.
After the demonstration meeting, the Guangzhou Municipal Communications Committee and GAC Group clarified that the Asian Games venue connecting line will be put into the gas-electric hybrid vehicle in an appropriate amount. The GAC Group’s GAC Research Institute, Guangzhou Automobile Bus and its strategic partner—Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. It will jointly undertake the R&D, testing and mass production of gas-electric hybrid buses for the Guangzhou Asian Games.
