A chemical and fertilizer company in Australia announced in early July that it will invest A$3.5 billion in the construction of a large-scale synthetic ammonia urea unit using coal as raw material. The project will be built in Western Australia’s industrial zone and is scheduled to be completed in 2013. Production will be available in Australia. The West generates 850 million Australian dollars in exports each year.
It is reported that the ammonia plant will use Shell's coal gasification and gas treatment technology, Hald Topsoe's ammonia synthesis process, and Stamicarbon's urea 2000 plus fusion technology and fluidized bed granulation process. Among them, the designed capacity of the ammonia plant is 3,500 tons/day, and the capacity of the urea plant is 6,200 tons/day.
